Two pieces of good news

CD's ear tubes are officially in! We arrived at the hospital at 6:00 am on Wednesday and we were so lucky that CD was the youngest one waiting for surgery that morning because that meant that she got to go first. As anyone who has been through it knows, it is not fun leaving the room after "your" beloved child roles her eyes back after the anesthesia hits just to sit in a waiting room to hope it will all go smoothly. Fortunately the procedure was very short and went off without a hitch. When CD woke up, as they told us is expected, she was incredibly irritable. She kicked, hit, screamed and was just miserable for about half an hour. It didn't take her long for her to bounce back to her adorable self and I was home with her before noon.

CD has been recovering well and is so amazingly cooperative with taking her ear drops and allowing me to plug up her ears for her baths. She is such a little trooper. I wondering if she is hearing differently now. The doctor said that there was a lot of fluid drained from her left ear. I am hopeful that CD will have far fewer problems with her ears now and I am looking forward to the language leaps that she will take now that her hearing is normal! You should hear her sing "You are my sunshine." It is to die for.

Good news number two, for those of you who follow this blog, I had prematurely announced that my son and his two friends had won $5000 for the Dave Thomas Foundation. It was premature in that I misunderstood a text he had sent me when he had made it to the *finals* and I thought he meant that they had won. I am so proud to announce that it is now official. His group won the money. In fact, additional donations came in and the money is now a pot of $8000 which will be split in some way between the top few charities. I am so, so proud.

GREAT news! I am hoping for the day that you can also share that CD is legally adopted. Maybe I should not hope in that idea too strongly, but I can't help it.

Congrats to your son!!! That is so amazing! Please tell him that he is an inspiration. I believe the money raised will truly help change lives.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Father's Day to your family!
