Tomorrow is day 21 since CD's trial and the termination of her biological parents'
parental rights. As expected, her biological parents did not attend the trial and have not
reached out to the defense attorney to appeal the judge's decision. I am told that the
defense attorney attempted to reach out to CD's biological mother with no success.
So tomorrow, we can file for adoption.
I am just going to type that again. Tomorrow, we can finally, after 30 months, that is 2.5 years, file adoption papers with the state. I can only keep my fingers crossed that CD's packet is ready for filing with the state but I am not all that confident since our newly assigned case manager has not been to see us yet and I am sure there are some forms that require our signatures.
But anyway, tomorrow we can file to adopt CD.
Tomorrow I can confidently call an adoption lawyer knowing that there will be an adoption.
In the meantime, yesterday I picked up my paint brushes for the first time since the day CD came home. I am making a three panel series of paintings to fill the space where the newly removed baby crib once stood. The theme of the paintings is "You are my sunshine." I have never enjoyed painting so much.
